Sikkim Adventure Tourism Fest 2026: Dates, activities, package prices

Sikkim will host its first Adventure Tourism Fest from November 1 to 7, 2026, with Linkhim Tar in Namchi district as the main venue, CNBC TV18 reported on Wednesday, October 21, citing PTI.

Organised by the Sikkim Tourism and Civil Aviation Department, the festival will offer more than 20 activities across all six districts. It aims to attract tourists, promote nature-based travel and create opportunities for local communities.

Activities

On offer are paragliding, river rafting, ziplining, hot-air ballooning, trekking, mountain biking and birdwatching. Officials said activities would follow safety guidelines, with trained staff and certified operators.

Paragliding is expected to be a major draw. Deputy Director Manoj Chettri told PTI that team members had been trained and registered under the Sikkim INSPIRES programme and that participants who register will be insured.

Treks and Tour de Sikkim

• Tour de Sikkim (2nd edition): a six-day, five-night mountain biking expedition of about 253 km along the old Silk Route, reaching around 4,279 metres.
• Heart of Sikkim Trek: an 11-day trek through the Lum and Dzongu area, Poke La Pass and Lingza.
• Dzongri-Singalila Round Trek: linking Yuksom with Uttarey through western Sikkim.

Birdwatching

Birdwatching tours will run in East and West Sikkim. The eastern route covers Rongli, Lungthu, Zuluk and Pangolakha, with chances to see the Himalayan Monal and Blood Pheasant. The western route covers Pelling, Khecheopalri and Yuksom.

The Gangtok Adventure Relay combines a helicopter ride, paragliding, rafting and an overnight camp.

Bookings are through the official festival website, adventurefest.sikkimtourism.co.in, which lists package details and availability. Packages and expeditions must be pre-booked through registered travel agencies. A ticket counter will also operate at MG Marg in Gangtok.
