The Nagaland Cyber Tour 2026, a statewide cyber safety campaign by MMB Cyber School with Nagaland Police, ended at Loyola School in Kohima on Friday, October 23, after covering all 17 districts of the state.

Held in two phases between July 31 and October 23, the campaign reached more than 6,500 people across 50 educational institutions and five community events, Nagaland Tribune reported.

What it covered

Sessions focused on:

  • cybercrime and online financial fraud
  • phishing and identity theft
  • cyberbullying and misinformation
  • fake job and scholarship offers
  • digital arrest scams and impersonation
  • protecting personal and banking information

Participants were shown how to spot suspicious online activity and report cybercrime in time. The tour's message was "Think. Verify. Protect."

Two phases

The first phase ran from July 31 to August 14, starting at Baptist Higher Secondary School in Tseminyu and covering schools in Tuensang, Noklak, Shamator, Kiphire, Meluri and Satakha.

The second phase began on September 21 at Union Christian School in Pfutsero and covered institutions in Phek, Wokha, Mokokchung, Longleng, Mon, Niuland, Dimapur, Peren and Kohima, including colleges and ICFAI University in Dimapur.

In the community

Beyond schools, the team held five community sessions, at the Thang Students' Union library-cum-tuition centre and the SP conference hall in Noklak, the Yimkhiung Tribal Complex in Shamator, a children's home in Satakha, and a session with police and civil society in Mon district. These stressed the role of parents, community leaders and local groups in spreading awareness and encouraging people to report cybercrime.

Police support

The organisers credited Nagaland Police, under Director General of Police Rupin Sharma and Additional DGP Sandeep M. Tamgadge, along with district superintendents of police, schools and local authorities.

What's next

The organisers said future programmes would aim to reach more sections of society with targeted awareness on emerging threats and digital literacy.

Victims of online fraud anywhere in India can call the national cybercrime helpline 1930 or file a complaint at cybercrime.gov.in.
