Meghalaya published its final electoral roll after the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 on Monday, October 26, putting the state's electorate at 21,83,963.

That is a net addition of 14,720 voters, or 0.68 per cent, over the draft roll. It is, however, about 1.65 lakh fewer than the 23,49,645 electors on the rolls before the revision began.

Who is on the final roll

  • Men: 10,59,743
  • Women: 11,24,216
  • Third gender: 4
  • Gender ratio: 1,061 women per 1,000 men
  • Elector-population ratio: 606

How the numbers changed

During house-to-house enumeration from June 30 to July 29, booth level officers handed out forms to all 23,49,645 electors and got 21,69,243 back. The 1,80,402 cases where forms were not returned were left out of the draft roll published on August 5, under the categories absent, shifted, deceased and duplicate (ASDD):

  • Deceased: 81,490
  • Absent: 45,011
  • Shifted: 42,532
  • Duplicate: 6,701
  • Others: 4,668

The Election Department then issued 6,51,735 notices, 2,22,786 to unmapped electors and 4,28,949 over logical discrepancies, and completed all hearings. In total, 6,724 electors were deleted at this stage.

Between August 5 and September 18, the department accepted 21,694 applications for inclusion (Form 6/6A), along with 12,860 corrections, 2,526 deletions and 2,276 changes of residence.

How to check your name

Chief Electoral Officer B.D.R. Tiwari asked voters to check their names on voters.eci.gov.in, ceomeghalaya.nic.in or the ECINET app, or through their booth level officer or the electoral registration officer's office.

Anyone unhappy with an ERO's order can appeal to the District Magistrate within 15 days under Section 24(a) of the Representation of the People Act, 1950, and file a second appeal before the CEO within 30 days.

Enrolment continues

Tiwari said enrolment remains open through Form 6. A special drive will be held in all districts for left-out voters, first-time electors, senior citizens and persons with disabilities, following an Election Commission direction of October 1. He said no eligible elector should be left behind, and thanked voters, parties, booth level agents, dorbar shnongs and nokmas for their help.
