Two Tripura recruitment bodies have put out fresh schedules this week: the Teachers' Recruitment Board, Tripura (TRBT) has announced dates for the Tripura Teachers' Eligibility Test (T-TET) 2026, and the Joint Recruitment Board of Tripura (JRBT) has said interviews for 414 long-pending Group-C vacancies will begin on December 15, Tripurainfo reported.
T-TET 2026: key dates
The TRBT notification, dated October 30 and signed by Controller of Examinations Dr Kartick Lal Bhowmik, says the test will be held in two papers:
- Paper-I (for teachers of Classes I to V): Sunday, December 20, 2026
- Paper-II (for teachers of Classes VI to VIII): Sunday, January 3, 2027
Online applications open on November 17 at 4 pm and close on November 30 at 4 pm. Exam fees must be paid by December 2 at 4 pm. Admit cards can be downloaded between December 11 and December 17, and will carry the centre, reporting time and exam duration. Centres can be anywhere in Tripura.
The syllabus and a Prospectus-cum-Instructions with eligibility rules, fees and application steps will be posted on the board's website, trb.tripura.gov.in, before applications open. The board has said the dates may be changed.
The notification also makes clear that clearing T-TET is an eligibility qualification, not a job offer. Qualified candidates will still have to apply when the board advertises actual teaching vacancies and go through that selection process.
JRBT: interviews for 414 Group-C posts
Separately, a JRBT notification dated October 28 says the interview or personality test for eligible candidates in three Group-C categories will start on December 15. The posts are:
- Lower Division Clerk (LDC): 31 vacancies (30 ST, 1 SC)
- Junior Operator (Pump): 185 vacancies (87 UR, 34 SC, 64 ST)
- Junior Multi-Tasking Operator: 198 vacancies (100 UR, 34 SC, 64 ST)
In all, 187 posts are unreserved, 69 are for Scheduled Castes and 158 for Scheduled Tribes, with 28 earmarked for persons with benchmark disabilities. Ex-servicemen quotas are included within these numbers.
No fresh applications are being invited. The exercise continues a recruitment drive whose written exam was held on August 22, 2021, and the notice was issued in line with a series of Tripura High Court orders in related cases. Candidates who cleared the written test will be called for interviews in a 1:3 ratio, subject to eligibility and reservation rules.
Individual interview dates, venues and call letters have not yet been announced. The board has asked candidates to watch jrbtripura.com and the employment department's site, employment.tripura.gov.in, for updates.
Why it matters
Both notices come as Tripura heads into urban local body elections on November 27. For thousands of job seekers, the JRBT schedule is the more immediate news: it moves a five-year-old recruitment closer to appointments. T-TET, by contrast, only determines who is eligible for future teacher recruitment.
