Arunachal Pradesh has a new animal feed plant. Animal Husbandry, Veterinary and Dairy Development and Fisheries Minister Gabriel D Wangsu on Friday inaugurated the M/s Rongoge animal feed plant at Doimukh in Papum Pare district, which will sell its products under the brand name "Green Gold Feed", The Arunachal Times reported.

Wangsu called the facility a "historic milestone" for the state and an important step for its livestock and fisheries sectors.

A private venture

The plant has been set up by local entrepreneur Likha Maj. Wangsu congratulated him for pursuing the project despite many challenges and for going beyond conventional businesses, saying such a unit needs vision and the courage to enter a field with real potential for the state's farm economy.

Industries Minister Nyato Dukam, who also attended, described the plant as more than a business and said it could serve the farming community. He promised government support for the unit's growth.

Why feed matters

Wangsu said breed, seed and feed are the three pillars of successful farming, and that neglecting any one of them hurts the whole production chain and farmers' incomes.

He said many farmers lack technical knowledge about livestock nutrition and quality feed, which directly affects animal growth, milk yield, meat output, poultry performance and fish growth, and ultimately lowers their returns.

Access to good-quality feed remains a major problem across the Northeast, the minister said, so the Doimukh plant matters not just for Arunachal but for the wider region. He hoped it would improve supply and help commercial livestock and fish farming expand.

He asked the management to keep production standards high and to continue making feed without urea, which he described as a healthier option for animals. Consistent quality, he said, would be key to winning farmers' trust.

Who attended

The Itanagar deputy commissioner, the Naharlagun superintendent of police, the director of the Animal Husbandry, Veterinary and Dairy Development department, other senior officials, representatives of the company and local farmers were present at the launch.

Wangsu said the state's animal husbandry sector was "poised for a major transformation", and that he expected the new plant to contribute to that growth.
